Advanced Planmeca® Dental Cone Beam CT Scans
At High Point Family Dentistry, we utilize state-of-the-art technology to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality care available. Our Planmeca cone beam machine allows us to take precise, 3D imaging of our patients’ teeth and map out their treatment plans.
The dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a modern X-ray machine that creates three-dimensional images of bone, nerve pathways, soft tissues, and dental structures. The machine uses a cone-like X-ray beam that moves around the patient to produce the imaging. From the jaw to the nasal cavities, our CBCT gives us a closer look into our patients’ health.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a CBCT/cone beam machine used for?
The CBCT can be used for many things, such as:
- Diagnosing TMJ/TMD
- Examining the Health of the Jaw, Sinuses, Nerve Canals & Nasal Cavity
- Mapping Out Tooth Orientation
- Precise Dental Implant Placement
- Surgical Planning
- & So Much More!
What makes Planmeca different from other CBCT machines?
Our Planmeca CBCT machine is the first of its kind to combine several types of data into one X-ray unit. For example, the Planmeca can combine the standard image, a 3D facial photo, and a 3D scan into one image. Essentially, the Planmeca allows us to create a virtual, 3D replica of our patients from the surface level facial appearance to the intricate nerve pathways.
When do I need to be treated with a CBCT machine?
The CBCT machine doesn’t provide treatment for dental issues, it is used to help map out and identify the issue so that we can create a personalized treatment plan. With the Planmeca CBCT, we can locate oral infections and diseases, map out your future dental implants, get a closer look at impacted teeth, and more to help us provide the most accurate treatments!
