Oral Surgery in Elgin & Schaumburg, IL

In-House Oral Surgery

We are privileged to work with our in-house surgeon, Dr. John Hur! Rather than being given a referral to go elsewhere, we are able to perform surgeries in our office. At High Point Dentistry, you are in good hands with an experienced and successful surgeon whose calm demeanor combined with his experience allows him to help any patient in need of oral surgery.

Sedation Options

For oral surgery, we offer oral conscious sedation, which will allow you to sit through any appointment relaxed and at ease. We will ensure you are comfortable throughout any surgery needed.

Patients are prescribed oral medication and instructed to take it at a specific time before their procedure. This allows the medication to begin working at the correct time and last for the duration of the appointment. Patients are not rendered unconscious, but it is not uncommon for patients to feel so relaxed during their visit that they doze off. Anyone who utilizes oral conscious sedation must have a friend or family member drive them home after their appointment.

What is recovery like after oral surgery?

Your recovery will depend on your unique healing process as well as the treatment you receive, and we will provide you with detailed instructions on how to take care of yourself during this time. In general, the recovery process for most oral surgeries involves eating soft foods or sticking to a liquid diet, keeping the teeth and mouth clean, and resting as much as possible. If you have any questions or concerns during recovery, you are more than welcome to contact us for assistance.

What can I do to speed up my recovery process?

Resting is one of the best things you can do after just about any type of surgery to allow your body to recover and heal. Too much activity can actually cause a dental extraction site to bleed, which slows the healing process. We also advise patients to sleep with their heads elevated to help reduce swelling and avoid smoking or drinking through straws, as these activities can cause problems that will almost certainly cause the recovery process to take longer.

How will I know if oral surgery is the right choice for me?

Whether you are experiencing pain toward the back of your jaw or you are missing teeth and want to know if dental implants are right for you, your best option is to schedule a consultation with our team. This will allow us to examine your teeth and jaw, take X-rays, and update your treatment plan based on what we believe will be best for you. Routine dental appointments are also important for our team to make recommendations for services you might need, including oral surgery.

If you are in need of oral surgery in Cook or Kane County, call us today to schedule a consultation! Give your smile the care that it deserves and preserve your teeth for years to come!
